Outreach Activities

Community Outreach

The Education Committee reaches out to the public through tabling activities at local festivals, school Science Fairs, and community events. At tabling events, volunteers share MDAS pamphlets and materials, share information about our chapter activities, and answer general birding questions. The engaging “Nest Box Game” is a crowd favorite, designed for youth, but popular with adults as well.

Past festival favorites have included the San Francisco Bay Flyway Festival, The John Muir House Earth Day and Birthday event, Wild Birds Unlimited “Mother Nature” and “Fall Festival” events, the Martinez Beaver Festival, and area elementary and middle school Science Fair and STEAM events. Tabling events are a great way to get involved, meet other chapter members, and share our important birding and conservation message. To volunteer at a tabling event, please contact Susana de Trapaga, Community Outreach Chair at .
